Swami Matishwarananda’s association with the Ramakrishna Math began in 1994 at the Pune centre. That same year, he was blessed to receive Mantra Diksha (spiritual initiation) from Most Revered Swami Gahanandaji Maharaj, the 14th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.

After completing his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the Indian Law Society’s Law College, Pune, he maintained close contact with the Order. In 2013, he formally joined the Ramakrishna Order at Ramakrishna Math, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where he served in the hospital run by the Math.

From 2016 to 2018, he underwent two years of probationary training at Belur Math, Kolkata, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. From 2019 to 2022, he served at Ramakrishna Math, Katihar, Bihar, where he was actively involved in the Gadadhar Abhuday Prakalpa, a service project for the all-round development of underprivileged children.

In 2022, he was posted to Ramakrishna Math, Ahmedabad (Karnavati), Gujarat, where he is presently serving. He was blessed to receive Sannyasa (final monastic vows) in 2023 from Most Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, the current President of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
